Most people don’t plan to meet an oral surgeon. It usually means something feels off, something needs to be fixed, or something important is at stake. If that’s what brought you here, I want you to feel reassured that you are in capable hands.
Oral and maxillofacial surgery is not something I take lightly. Every procedure carries responsibility, and every patient brings a unique story. Whether I am relieving pain, rebuilding structure, or restoring function, I approach each case with focus, precision, and a deep respect for what it means to you.
My path to this field began at Rutgers University, where I completed my undergraduate studies, followed by a Master’s in Biomedical Science. I then earned my dental degree from Temple University before returning to Rutgers to complete my residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. That training allowed me to work extensively in procedures ranging from extractions and implants to trauma care, orthognathic surgery, and full facial reconstruction.
What matters most to me, though, is not just what I was trained to do, but how I show up for my patients. Surgery can feel overwhelming. My role is to bring clarity, calm, and confidence into that experience. I take the time to explain, to listen, and to make sure you feel fully informed and comfortable every step of the way.
Some of the most meaningful parts of my career have taken place far beyond a traditional clinical setting. I have participated in surgical mission trips across Asia and Bangladesh, helping patients with cleft lip and palate conditions, and served communities in the Dominican Republic with limited access to care. Those experiences shaped my perspective and reinforced something I believe deeply that everyone deserves access to high-quality, life-changing treatment.
In my care, you can expect honesty, precision, and a steady, thoughtful approach. I do not rush decisions, and I do not take shortcuts. My goal is to deliver results that not only solve the problem, but leave you feeling confident in both the outcome and the process.
Outside of surgery, I enjoy playing soccer, traveling, and flying my drone. Those moments help me stay balanced and focused, and remind me to bring the same level of presence and discipline into everything I do.
It would be an honor to take care of you and guide you through your treatment with the attention and care you deserve.
Sincerely,
Dr. Odai Abushanab
